Governor Appointee – Term expires March 31, 2025

William O'Mara was appointed to the CERS Board of Trustees by Governor Andy Beshear for a four-year term beginning April 1, 2021. He was nominated for appointment by the Kentucky League of Cities (KLC).

Mr. O'Mara, from Nicholasville, is a retired Commissioner of Finance for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. He served in that role from 2013 to 2020. He was previously the state Director of Revenue from 1995 to 2013 and during that time also was briefly acting Commissioner of Finance and Education and a member of the Lexington Police and Fire Pension Task Force. He has an MBA in Accounting and a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Kentucky. He is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association, among other organizations.
