Seeking Applicants from County Employees Retirement System (CERS)
for 2025
Election to the CERS Board of Trustees
Kentucky Revised Statutes 78.782 provides that three Trustees (two with non-hazardous service and one with hazardous service) shall be elected by the eligible members of CERS for a four-year term. The next election for Trustees from CERS will be held in early 2025 for the term beginning April 1, 2025. CERS Board of Trustees (Board) is seeking applications from members of CERS interested in serving as a Trustee.
Eligibility Requirements for Elected Trustees
Applicants must be an active, inactive, or retired member of CERS. Applicants cannot be current or former employees of the County Employees Retirement System, Kentucky Retirement Systems, or Kentucky Public Pensions Authority. A person who has served three consecutive terms on the board is ineligible to apply unless there has been at least four years since his or her last term ended. Applicants cannot hold an office or position that is constitutionally incompatible with the position of Trustee. Application information will be forwarded to the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General to determine whether any constitutional incompatibility exists. If a constitutional incompatibility exists, the individual and the CERS Board shall be notified.
Application Process
An applicant must submit the following items:
- Completed
application,
- Cover Letter,
- Detailed résumé,
- 5x7 color photo to be used on the ballot, and
- Signed release for a
criminal background check to be performed by Kentucky State Police. CERS will cover the cost of the background check.

The Trustee application can be completed and submitted online from the KPPA website. Cover letter, résumé, and picture can be submitted via email to
trustee.election@kyret.ky.gov. At this time, the signed release for criminal background check must be submitted to the address below. All documents required documents must be received by
close of business on July 31, 2024:

The CERS Board will nominate candidates to be a Trustee at the September 2024 Board meeting.
Note: Applications, cover letters, résumés, and releases for background checks received after July 31 will not be considered for nomination by the Board.
