Karen Roggenkamp serves as both the KRS Deputy Executive Director and the Executive Director, Office of Operations, for Kentucky Retirement Systems (KRS) where she is responsible for the Information Technology, Accounting, Investment Operations, Employer Reporting, and Office Services Divisions of the agency. She also manages the Systems' $43 million administrative budget and works closely with the Actuary to analyze legislation during Kentucky General Assembly sessions.
Ms. Roggenkamp joined KRS in February 2013 as the Chief Operations Officer (COO). She began her career at General Electric Corporation with positions in Consumer Finance, Auditing, International Operations, and Accounting Management, and is a graduate of GE's Financial Management Program (FMP). She then moved into Financial Services with Bank One (JP Morgan Chase) serving in various financial and operations management capacities including Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Bank One Leasing Corporation and Bank One Merchant Services, as well as Director of Finance One (mortgages, auto leasing, student lending, and consumer finance). In 2000, Ms. Roggenkamp joined Huntington Bank (Columbus, OH) assisting in developing their Contract Management group and then served in various senior management positions including Director of Corporate Accounting Operations, COO of Huntington Preferred Capital, and the CFO of Technology and Operations.
Ms. Roggenkamp grew up near Bardstown, KY and graduated from Western Kentucky University. She has a MBA in Accounting and International Business from Xavier University. She also has completed executive education programs with the Center of Creative Leadership (Eckerd College), Darden School of Business (University of Virginia), and educational programs at Fischer College of Business (Ohio State University).
